A well-known fashion retailer has been selling a bra (like hot cakes, if you’ll excuse the pun), which increases your bust appearance by two sizes. There has been such a demand lately for bust enhancing bras, that this same retailer has now produced a bikini that does the same thing, so the store has introduced a gel-filled bikini top that will boost your assets by two cup sizes. Not since the ‘Wonderbra’ of the Eighties has there been such a desire by women to increase their bust size and also replicate the classic hourglass figure of the Fifties. Finally it is recognised that real womanly curves are something to aspire to, not hide away in baggy tops.

This new trend has been partly inspired by Christina Hendricks, who plays Joan Holloway in the American TV show Mad Men. For those of you who haven’t seen Christina, she is a vision of loveliness, a healthy size 14, real curves, big boobs, (that are not surgically enhanced) and she wears them well, (take a look at Google). Her boobs aren’t disguised, she dresses to enhance and flatter her bust at all times. She was voted the ‘sexiest woman in the world’ in 2010 in a poll of female readers taken by Esquire magazine, and Vivienne Westwood has described Hendricks as “the embodiment of beauty.” She is a great role model for Bravissimo ladies (even if she doesn’t know it yet).

To all of our wonderful Curvy, Really Curvy and Super Curvy Bravissimo ladies, we are in a very fortunate position. We have those much coveted assets for real, with no need for gel enhanced bras. We know it’s only Wednesday, but the schools are shut and this time of year is always extra busy, so the middle of the week is an acceptable time to start planning the weekend ahead.

There are many great towns and cities in Britain (outside London) that are perfect for a day’s shopping; Leeds, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Manchester, Cambridge and Brighton to name but a few. So why not indulge yourself and round up a couple of girlfriends and plan a day away? If you have children you could leave them with your partner (get him involved!). Sometimes school holidays can be more stressful and exhausting, so a break and a change of scenery to recharge your batteries will make you feel re-energized as you tackle the rest of the holidays. If you are single, just pick up the phone, your friends will be glad that someone has taken the initiave to organize something.

As its summer, let’s take a closer look at the city of Brighton and Hove on the south coast. Prince Regent made the area fashionable after his first visit in 1783; he fell in love with Brighton and went on to commission the building of The Royal Pavilion. In 1841 with the arrival of the railway, Brighton was more accessible to Londoners, it attracted many day trippers, the town was also known as a health resort, as the seawater was thought to bring many health benefits. Brighton is often known as ‘London by the Sea’, as it is just 50 minutes train journey from Victoria. Its population is made up of students from all over the world, young families and famously has a vibrant gay scene.

You will not get bored in Brighton, there is plenty to do. If you are there early enough you could have a delicious breakfast at Bill’s Produce Store (The Depot, 100 North Road), or for a traditional ‘greasy spoon’ you could go to Cafe Motu (6 Trafalgar Street), a no frills café that serves a fantastic English breakfast.

Then you could take a slow amble through the North Laines, and look at all the amazing independent shops selling vintage clothes, baby clothes, lovely homewear and beautiful jewellery. You could then book yourself in at The Treatment Rooms (New Road), a beauty salon and day spa. They offer all sorts of lovely treatments like a Swedish massage or an aromatherapy facial. You could then have a spot of lunch at Dermot O’Leary’s Fishy Fishy Seafood Brasserie (East Street).

The T-shirt is a hot trend for this summer, whether it’s cropped, slouchy & baggy, or one with a slogan. The T-shirt was initially created from an undergarment used in the 19th century, through cutting the one-piece “union suit” underwear into separate top and bottom garments. The T-shirt has had a long and varied history, it was worn by miners in the late 19th century, because it was perfect to be worn in hot environments. The US navy then issued them as regulation garments during the Spanish-American war. After World War II, veterans began wearing the T-shirt casually with their uniform trousers. Marlon Brando who starred in A Street Car Named Desire in the early 1950s, really made the T-shirt a cool piece of clothing and that’s when it became fashionable as outerwear. In the late 1960s the T-shirt started to be used as an art medium, decorated with bright graphics, cartoon characters and slogans. They could display a political protest, a love of a particular rock band or a souvenir of a holiday destination, like the iconic ‘I ❤ NY’. In the eighties Katherine Hamnett designed her famous outsize slogan T-shirts, like the famous CHOOSE LIFE T-shirt (worn by George Michael of Wham), and NO WAR and SAVE THE WORLD.

A high street lingerie store was featured on a TV programme the other night. The deputy managing director of the company went undercover and worked along side sales girls in various stores as a trainee shop assistant. When she reported back to the MD, her research found that high street lingerie stores were offering more sexy lingerie than ever before and they would need to update their own range if they were to keep up.

This is undoubtedly true, as there is so much choice out there if you want to buy beautiful and sexy underwear. If you are a friend of Bravissimo on Facebook, you will have noticed that the Bravissimo Super Fans’ event took place in London the other night. Some of our past Super Fans got together and swapped their experiences of Bravissimo and what being a Super Fan meant for them personally. I know we may have mentioned it before (once or twice), but finding the right bra really can change your life and these girls a testament to that.

One fan had her fitting over the phone, at first she wasn’t too confident, however the fitter was knowledgable and helpful and talked her through signs that she should be looking for when trying on a bra. The Bravissimo parcel arrived and as soon as she tried on her new bra, she had her eureka moment.

Some Fans had been so unhappy with their boobs that they had even considered surgery, only to find that the right bra eliminates backache, corrects posture, which in turn improves the figure, knocking a few pounds off and creating a new feeling of self confidence as a consequence. All that from a bra, can’t be bad eh!

Cups of tea, talking about the weather, complaining about the trains, and queuing, just some of the things that make us proud to be British. Another one is the great institution that takes place in London SW19 in late June.

It’s Wimbledon fortnight and everyone is getting a bit overexcited. The All-England Club is awash with the world’s finest tennis players, the seats, stands and hills are packed full of British women cheering on their heroes, eating strawberries & cream, drinking champagne and generally having a great time. It is also the time of year, when your local park’s tennis courts are packed with hopefuls desperately trying to emulate Andy Murray or Laura Robson.

Yippee, it official, summer is on the way. And its fast approaching the time of year when you start exposing bits of your body (legally of course).
