How to look good when the weather is bad…
It can be tricky, battling with the weather whilst trying to remain looking chic. So if you’re fed up of leaving the house looking fine but looking like you’ve been dragged through a hedge backwards by the time you get to work then follow these helpful hints for maintaining your appearance in the wind, rain and snow!
First and foremost, invest in a good umbrella that will stand the test of time and wind! There’s nothing worse than your
umbrella turning inside out at the slightest breeze, it’s also quite embarrassing and almost impossible to correct when your hands are full of shopping bags from the post-Christmas sales.
Footwear is another serious consideration when the weather is bad. This time of year, the ballet pumps should be put away for spring. Soggy feet are not fun! Instead, go for a good pair of leather boots. Flat boots are great, more safe, and come in so many different styles, and will go with anything from jeans to leggings and dresses.
An effective way of staying chic in the cold is by layering your clothing. The trick is to keep your garments co-ordinated but not overly matchy-matchy. For an easy chic look, try a long cardigan cinched in with a waist belt.
Don’t skimp out on accessories or forget to accessorise just because the rest of your outfit is hidden under a mass of knitwear. Choose leather gloves over wool for a sophisticated look and don’t be afraid to wear that hat.
The key to looking good in bad weather? Preparation. And a versatile wardrobe!
New Year Resolutions…
It’s that time of year again to reflect on the last 12 months, decide what you would’ve done differently and plan what you want to achieve in 2010. Whether you make New Year resolutions or not, it’s a good time of year to put things into perspective and make some plans for the next 12 months.
Remember, start by making your resolutions realistic. If your aims for the New Year are health related, financial or simply about having more fun, try giving yourself a goal to achieve by the end of January, another by the end of February etc. This should give you small boosts of confidence to carry on or determination to try harder! If you’re
thinking about joining a gym, starting swimming etc, why not get your friends on board? That way you can support each other and have your catch up gossip whilst working out on the exercise bike, rather sat down with tea and biscuits. Plus there’s nothing like a bit of friendly competition to spur on your determination. What ever form of exercise you choose, make sure you have a properly fitting sports bra or swim wear to support your boobs while you exercise! Our swim suits come in sizes D-K, 30-40 for the perfect fit which will make that walk from the changing room to the pool less daunting and more flaunting!
Whatever your plans are for the new decade, we wish you all a very happy, healthy and wealthy 2010. Make it your best year yet!
Beat the post-Christmas blues…
Now that the Christmas and New Year hype is over for another year, we are faced the reality of the start of 2010 and the return back to work. But if this leaves you feeling less than cheery, then read on for some advice for beating the post-Christmas blues.
If the idea of being back at work is a difficult one, then try brightening up your office/work place by bringing in a piece of home. Whether it’s a cushion on your chair, a plant in the room or a photograph of loved ones, it’s a great way to brighten up your day and bring a bit of a homey feel to your work space. Although getting your bed or a TV in the office might be wishful thinking, and quite difficult to sneak in past your boss!
Eaten enough chocolate/ mince pies/ crisps to last a life time but still have cupboards full of food at home? Then kill two birds with one stone and get rid of your excess Christmas goodies at the office/play group/anywhere that will make you look very generous. Although, your colleagues will probably also have gorged on plenty of chocolate and sweets over the festive period, you will get rid of your excess Christmas goodies much quicker and with a lot less guilt at the office then at home. Better still take any food or goodies that you don’t want to your local homeless shelter.
And finally, to really beat the post-Christmas blues and focus on something other than how much you’ve spent/eaten over the festive period, why not plan a short break. Even if it’s just a day out, it will give you something to look forward to, which should make the days at work seem worthwhile! Whether you plan an action packed adventure, a day at a spa or a family trip, make sure you put aside some quality time for YOU!
How to do…
Animal print!
Never wear more than a couple of items of print at the same time, this applies to both clothing and accessories. You don’t want to be mistaken for Bet Lynch do you?! Don’t mix and match your animal prints, wearing a leopard print coat and a zebra print bag will just make you look like safari gone wrong. The animal print trend leaves little room for error, but this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t unleash your inner animal! When done right, the print can look glamorous and we’ve introduced a jersey animal print inspired wrap dress for Bravissimo girls, that’s right on trend this season!
